Southern California Moves to Manhattan

With spring in bloom, El Rey is re-opening it’s glass doors as a lunchonette, adding a garden-inspired food concept to their serious and well received selection of coffee, soda and beer. Seeking to revitalize the social tradition of the lunch counter, the new menu features small and shareable bites like a sour plum and ginger danish, parsnip and cajeta toast and a minted cauliflower falafel that echo the west coast’s aptitude for serving light yet vibrant, flavorful and satisfying fare. Vegetables, it looks like you’re staying center stage.
