Why do you think 50 Shades and Twilight are female sexuality?
Dana Seilhan

Sorry — I should have been more clear. They are not all female sexuality, but they are a subset. Not just the authors, but also the readers are overwhelmingly female.

What to do about internalized patriarchal influences when it comes to our desires? That’s a complicated one! Personally, I go with “roll with it,” but I get that wouldn’t work for everyone. My view is women’s sexuality as so squished, it’s something to be encouraged no matter what form it takes, even if it doesn’t always take a form that’s comfortable for us.
