A short story about a spaceship, it’s crew and a pair of eyes.

“Deed Blue” illustration

The spaceship was on it’s way. On it’s important mission.

Until.

Something happened.

The crew couldn’t believe it.

Mark and Jenna were in awe of what they saw in front of them.

One of the planets had eyes. A pair of big, bright, white eyes.

Blinking eyes. Marvellous eyes. Hypnotising eyes.

There was no protocol for planets with eyes in space. There was no precedent. There was no plan.

What do we do now? They wondered.

The only thing they could do. Continue looking. Continue staring into those great, colossal, blinking eyes. Continue staring into those hypnotising eyes.

Until nothing mattered anymore. Until everything else was out of focus — except for the eyes. Until there was no choice.

They lost control of their spaceship and crashed a few minutes later.

Nobody ever knew why.

There were only rumours about a planet with eyes. A visious planet that kills.

Nobody believes them.
