Discovering Olive Oil Outside Of The Kitchen

Many people swear by coconut oil and shea butter, I use to be one of them!

That is, until I discovered the joy and wonder of olive oil ! Now, I wasn’t

totally oblivious to olive oil, just its vast capabilities! I have long used olive

oil in the kitchen, but I must say I was in the dark about using it in the

bathroom. Olive oil has become the staple in my beauty regimen. The skin

and hair potion that I produce, San Sau, has a base of olive oil.

A Litte History

Originating from the Mediterranean, the olive tree and oil have been

cultivated and used dating back to the B.C. era . Olive oil is widely

accredited for it’s cosmetic, culinary, and medicinal abilities! It is anciently

referred to as liquid gold. Besides it providing a rich and robust taste to the

culinary scene, olive oil works wonders for health and beauty. My personal

experience with olive oil has permanently changed my view of skin care.

Before my olive oil discovery I would lubricate with lotions full of

preservatives and chemicals, then I started using coconut oil and shea butter.

The Shift

My shift in awareness was a direct result of my diet change. I am 6 months into my transition of consuming a plant based diet after 3 years of passionately flirting with the idea without a commitment. Making veggies the staple in my diet fine tuned my awareness to the needs of my mind, body, and environment. I can honestly say my lifestyle change altered my paradigm and they way I perceive, receive, and process information.

Using olive oil as the base of San Sau was a no brainer. What other oil could

be better?Olive oil helps relieve skin irritation and inflammation. It is a

source of essential vitamins A and K. It contains polyphenols, which are

antioxidants, that repair, renew, and stimulate cell growth for smoother,

healthier, and firmer skin. It penetrates deep into the skin, heals dry and

brittle nails, softens the cuticles and aids in the production of collagen. Olive

oil on the scalp can help to prevent hair loss by halting the production of

DHT (Dihydrotestosterone), a hormone, which causes the hair follicle to

decrease. It conditions and controls dandruff due to its anti-fungal and

antibacterial properties.

Ever since I incorporated olive oil into my beauty regimen through my

skincare product San Sau, I receive so many compliments on my hair and

skin! I once suffered from erythrodermic eczema and seborrheic dermatitis.

Considered a chronic form of eczema, seborrheic dermatitis appears on the

body where there are a lot of oil-producing (sebaceous) glands like the

upper back, nose and scalp. I would scale up all over my T-zone , especially

my hairline and even in my ears.

Using San Sau has really changed my appearance. My hair is longer,

stronger and and all around healthier. My skin has a more even and radiant

complexion and my scalp is nothing to be embarrassed about anymore. My

body stays moisturized and supple all day long. My nails and cuticles are in

the best condition I have ever seen them in. I use to be a chronic nail bitter,

but after witnessing San Sau take my nails from dry and brittle to long and

luxurious I no longer bite them. I have been biting my nails for over 20

years, but seeing them grow so fast and strong put a halt to my hand to

mouth obsession. San Sau is definitely no one trick pony and neither are

any of it’s four simple ingredients especially olive oil.
