A Step-by-Step Guide to securing dat Bag 💰

By Emmi Xi

The first step to a successful Onlyfans is signing up:

Use this link to create an account!

You can connect it with your twitter if you have one, and choose any username you’d like. (You can change this at any time)

  • Set up a bank account and brief W-1099 form (you can also update these later)

After creating an account, here are three essential things to consider for your new business.

Your Niche:

what’s your specialty that you think people or strangers would particularly like? Write down 1–5 things that you would consider posting.

Are you good at dancing? Do you love lingerie? Do people like commenting on your booty? Legs? Feet? There’s a niche for every category! Even if you can’t pinpoint exactly what, don’t fret, you can slowly ease into a category as you go. However, having a niche is extremely advantageous!

I see people who ONLY do feet and find a TON of success because they attract a specific audience who know exactly what to expect.

For me, I don’t really dance or have particularly phenomenal assets so I just post pictures of a bit of everything. My Instagram is cosplay themed so I try to post cosplays here and there.

Your Boundaries:

Are you willing to go naked? How lewd is your limit?

Boundaries are especially important to establish because there WILL be people who ask for more than you offer. OnlyFans is essentially customer service, without physically being there.

Make sure to state EXACTLY what you offer so people know what they sign up for.

Some popular descriptions include:

  • Nudes
  • Requests
  • Livestreming
  • Chatting

Free Account or Paid:

You can change this at any time, but it’s one of the hardest decisions to make upfront.

Pros of Paid Account:

  • Stable income every month
  • Your content is private

Cons of Paid:

  • Risk-averse people miss out on what you have to offer when you have a private account
  • You have to keep making new content to keep subscribers

Pros of Free:

  • You can choose a value per post and anyone who drops by your account could buy

Cons of free:

  • You rely on people tipping and buying your content as income

I personally have a paid account, my rate is $20/month. But this means many people wouldn’t risk paying for an entire month if they would only like to see something specific. However, I DO have a steady month-to-month income.

Some gals have two OF’s, one paid and one free.

Marketing:

Here’s the most important stuff!

Many people use Instagram and Twitter to market what they’ve got to offer.

If you don’t mind your friends and family knowing (good for you for having a supportive network!), here are some tips on starting:

  • Playfully talk about the potential of making an OF. People like to think that they’ve encouraged or influenced you into making this choice!
  • Chat with people about whether or not they would subscribe and support you as an artist
  • Make a big announcement on starting once you feel like you have support, and welcome all feedback.
  • Make sure to mention your OF frequently on your stories, but in between regular stories so it doesn’t seem spammy.
  • The appeal is that you are YOU, not someone who’s doing this for money

If you would like to keep anonymity, which will be more difficult to market but with less social repercussions:

Make a new Instagram or twitter

  • Post a few pictures of yourself caption mentioning “more on onlyfans”
  • Put your OF link in bio ***IMPORTANT
  • Start finding and following big models who have an OF. You can typically see them on #onlyfans
  • Go to their pictures and follow 50–500 people who liked their recent post
  • Engage if you want to with them
  • Be active and welcome support!

You’re going to have to put in tons of work starting from scratch, and learn along the way. But it will be worth it.

Facebook is more of a family-friendly community, but you can drop by different Facebook groups and casually mention having an OnlyFans. Especially on those posts that talk about investing or social justice stuff.

I’m in a bunch of dif groups and take opportunities to comment about my Onlyfans on posts like these:

Make sure to offer a discount for the first 5–20 subscribers! This will make the first supporters feel special (which they are. Never forget your OG’s).

Here’s an example of a recent promotion I held for 20% off:

You can set discounts up via “PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGNS” on your home page.

Features:

OF has many cool features such as:

Tipping

PPV messaging

Organizing fans into groups

Tipping tips and tricks:

A trick to work those tips are example posts like these:

*picture of you far ish away in a bikini*

Caption it

“Tip for a close-up in your DM’s”

People like direct reward, plus to support you as a beautiful human.

*picture of you with your shirt slightly up*

“tip for the shirt to come off”

PPV messaging Tips and tricks:

To send PPV, you go to

messages → “+” → select “Fans” → upload content → hit the button

→ set your amount (minimum is $3) and click send.

  1. Send a free message of preview,
  2. Send a pay to lock message explaining what’s in it. And mention that they don’t have to support if they can’t afford to or don’t want to.

Organizing fans into groups:

This helps you distinguish and organize who enjoys what kind of content, and who would more likely unlock specific content

Example: “ feet people”, “strappy lingerie people”, “booty people”, etc.

There are various OnlyFans Facebook groups where creators do shoutout for shootouts such as

Personally, I found them to be unhelpful unsuccessful because I don’t do nudes. But for many girls out there shoutout for shoutout works!

TAXES AND EXPENSES:

Since you’re a sole proprietor with your home as your space, you can write off all photoshoot/editing equipment such as cameras and laptops, “office supplies” such as toys/lingerie, and rent partially since you’re working from home.

The way I document my expenses is through intuit self-employed. I also have a square account with my fictitious business name and EIN (employer identification number)

This is an entire section that’s very complex, and I will post an article in. the future explaining this step-by-step. For now, make sure to save 20% of your income in preparation for taxes!
