I love cacti

flowers are truly overrated. but cacti…very underrated. they’re prickly and thrive on barren land where no one wants to go and are feared by too many. all in all, when it comes down to it, cacti are still plants. so then why do people only pick flowers? because they bloom attractively? flowers are selfish. you give them water and they absorb it relentlessly, greedily. A cactus: given nothing, taking nothing — a cactus only holds the water, unselfishly waiting to only offer it to someone brave enough. but when no one wants to risk being hurt how can anyone ever reach the water? how can you know the good that resides within if you cannot look past a harsh exterior? people can be like cacti…at first intimidating, always guarding themselves, bitterly overlooked..but once in a while like a cactus, a person decides not to prick you and instead allows you to see inside all of their goodness and that is the moment you know what true beauty looks like . but…it’s hard being like a cactus, especially when the one you want to look past your prickly defensive outside, is too afraid to touch you.
