Review: The author is such a prolific writer that as I read his works, I see, smell, hear, and feel, and to a great degree understand the character’s thinking. This novel gives a powerful insight into the lives of the marginalized. People walk the same streets, but their world is not the same. Great work!

Review: I stopped reading Blonde Faith because I do not want to finish it.
It is so good I am cherishing the last 50 pages. I have read
all of Mr. Mosley’s Easy Rawlins series and this one is absolutely the best.
Mr. Mosley is coming to terms with a culture that has no regard
for human dignity particularly anyone that is different than those
who are in power. Combine that with the devastating difficulties in understanding what love is. The plot is moved along by Mouse’s daring
persona and his illegal activities against the establishment.
Mouse is Robin Hood to Easy’s confusion on who Easy is.
The struggle to find and know himself within this crazy culture makes
Easy an easy character to empathize with. The eternal quest to know why we act the way we do. Most of us are not going
to rob a bank or be a detective but it’s comforting and exciting to know
that we all share the same distress. Mr Mosley honesty is startling and
freeing. Now lets get into the l970’s. Self realization is a continual story.
Well this a thrill. Easy Rawlins is back and I am one happy reader. Take a look.

Doubleday Acquires Three Books, Including Two New Easy Rawlins Mysteries, By Bestselling Author Walter Mosley
October 3, 2011, New York, NY — Doubleday has acquired two new Easy Rawlins mysteries and another novel by critically acclaimed, bestselling author Walter Mosley, it was announced today by William Thomas, Senior Vice President, Publisher & Editor-in-Chief of Doubleday. Gerald Howard, Vice President & Executive Editor, acquired world rights in all languages from Gloria Loomis of Watkins/Loomis Agency. The first Easy Rawlins mystery, currently untitled, is scheduled to be published in 2013. The novel, also untitled, is a noirish account of a porn star’s determination to escape her dangerous milieu, and is scheduled for 2014, to be followed a year later by the next Easy Rawlins mystery.

Title: The Latest ‘Easy’ May Be the Last

Review: “Blonde Faith” is the eleventh installment in Walter Mosley’s celebrated Easy Rawlins series, and the novel’s final scene leads one to believe it may be the last. Indeed, Mosley has recently launched a new series, beginning with “The Long Fall” (2009), in which he introduces a new protagonist/narrator, Leonid McGill, as well as a change of scene, from post-WWII Los Angeles to 21st-century New York.
The plot of “Blind Faith” involves Rawlins in a complicated series of searches for missing persons. Easy’s friend Christmas Black has abruptly left his young daughter at the Rawlins household with no explanation. A Vietnam veteran, Black is being pursued by a band of men in army uniforms, several of whom are killed in the process. Raymond “Mouse” Alexander, Easy’s hitman sidekick, has also disappeared, wanted by the police for apparently murdering a man named Pericles Tarr. Finally, while pursuing these two absentees, Easy is haunted by the fear that he may have permanently lost Bonnie Shea, his one true love, whom he ironically had sent packing after discovering her dalliance with another man.
Along the way, Easy encounters Faith Laneer, the blonde whose name provides the book’s punning title. She proves to be a link to Christmas Black, as well as a new love interest for Rawlins.
On his quest to find one friend and save another, Rawlins must not only overcome immediate obstacles — lies, threats, beatings — posed by his antagonists but must also come to terms with the less tangible but equally dangerous wounds to his psyche left by his breakup with Bonnie. That he ultimately manages to do so is proof of his resourcefulness as a detective and as a man. If we have seen the last of him (“I smiled, and then the world went black” are the book’s final words), at least we can take some solace in his having faced his inner demons and essentially maintained his integrity in a world that is rigged to deny his worth.

Title: Silence Is a Text Easy to Misread

Review: Should Walter Mosley determine not to write any more Easy Rawlins mysteries — which seems a distinct possibility — then this fine series will end, like “Blonde Faith,” on a blue note.
This story is all about missing persons. Easy’s newfound comrade, Christmas Black, deposits his adopted Vietnamese daughter on Easy’s doorstep and disappears. Ray Alexander has gone to ground, and his woman, Etta Mae, fears that the police have caught up with him or may soon do so because of his supposed murder of Pericles Tarr. Said Pericles, like the woman who lived in the shoe, has so many children he doesn’t know what to do — other than also disappear, with no body left behind. It’s left to Easy to find out where, and find out why.
And most importantly, missing from Easy’s life is Bonnie Shay, the love of his life. Easy has pridefully pushed her away, and she’s now engaged to another man.
The plot is complex and very fluid. Easy doesn’t stay in one place — or on one trail — for very long. He goes through the standard motions of detecting, but inside he is grieving the loss of Bonnie, and is distracted from his profession. He encounters enticing women, among them the eponymous Faith, but they don’t fulfill him. His children no longer seem to need him. The recurring characters we see — Mamma Jo, Etta Mae, Mouse, Primo, Jewelle, and Jackson Blue — all seem to have moved past him, leaving Easy sliding, sliding, and then in free fall.
The book’s mystery plot is nicely and cleanly resolved. But what will become of Easy? That question awaits its answer — if any — on another day.

Review: Mr. Mosley writes about life with such detail that any storyline becomes just one thread of a hugely complex weave, yet he makes it look so simple. He is really one of the finest American authors of our time.
