On our last day in Jharkhand the march crossed through the Deoghar District of Jharkhand. We met the officials from different government bodies. We sat and discussed various issues and the limitations that these institutions face while working for protection of rights and prevention of trafficking. The District Child Protection Officer, The Chairperson of Child Welfare Committee, Officers from Legal Child Protection Unit and Program Officer and Coordinator of Childline and other activists working on child rights came on a common platform to discuss the issue of trafficking. It was laid out with prime importance that the effective collaboration of LCPU and DCPU is crucial if we want to work for preventing trafficking. Also the need to have a very smooth rehabilitation mechanism was felt and discussed. Various schemes that the government runs for aiding the children who live in marginalised sections of society were discussed. Also it was suggested that if the welfare schemes reached the vulnerable, there will be little scope for the trafficker to intervene and dodge the system.
