I believe I address those questions in the post. Furthermore, I do not see it as futile or hopeless to acknowledge and explore a starker perspective on reality. You see it as a message of futility, and label it pessimistic, and that is merely a subjective analysis and individual interpretation. You consider such ideas futile because you feel a sense of futility when wondering what it must be like to take on such a cold and detached view of reality.
Consider that I see the adoption and pursuit of salvation narratives as futile since their promises and hopes cannot be realized. This is my subjective analysis. Of course, a believer will not feel such futility as long as they remain in the warm embrace of their chosen — or inherited — and always to be trusted decision tree of meaning and purpose
