Wow, thanks for the detailed response! I wonder if you could expand on non-pathologizing a bit more. Do clients specifically go to feminist therapists because they know they won’t be “labeled”? Is there a danger in missing a diagnosis by refusing to label people? Is this in part a response to overdiagnosing people? I haven’t heard about this practice in therapy and a close family member works in the mental health field. It seems common now for people to be if not proud, then not ashamed of things like depression, anxiety, OCD, etc. Do you feel your clients are losing out on any community by not having a word to describe their experiences?
