No sir, it is well historically documented that Kennedy did NOT get us into the Vietnam war. THAT was all Johnson and those before Kennedy. You see Kennedy did not want to have anything to do with Vietnam. Especially after he felt ‘duped’ with the Bay of Pigs fiasco. Yet, his advisers and special interests nagged, prodded and pushed him to ‘do something more’ in Vietnam. Kennedy pacified them by sending Johnson, his then VP, to visit Vietnam. Probably more so as a means to get Johnson out of his hair than any real will to boost assistance. Johnson returned- but with a ‘crusader-like’ burning desire to intervene in Vietnam. He felt compelled to get America to ‘directly help’ in Vietnam. Kennedy still did not feel as motivated to do any such thing. Sadly, when Johnson took over as president he immediately put his personal agendas into place, one of which was getting America full bore into Vietnam. HE sent my father to Vietnam, not Kennedy. In fact the first military advisers in Vietnam had arrived long before Kennedy…during the 1950s.
