Honoring our commitment to community and dignity
By Monica Martinez, CEO
I’d like to take a moment to reiterate our commitment to the dignity of every person in our community in light of federal immigration policy changes. As we work through these ever changing times, many in our community may be feeling shocked, vulnerable, or afraid. We want you to know we see you, we value you, and we stand with you.
At Encompass, we protect staff and client privacy and confidentiality at all times. We do not release information on the immigration status of any community members, or cooperate with individuals who want to learn this information. We do this not only to comply with confidentiality laws including HIPAA, 42CFR, and FERPA, but because we firmly believe every client we serve deserves our trust and respect. Our goal at Encompass is to respond calmly and mindfully to each situation that arises, and to take actions that support every person’s dignity and ability to thrive.
It’s important for you to know we join many local nonprofits in ensuring the community feels safe continuing to seek services with us. More recently, we signed on to a collaborative message from key nonprofits published in local newspapers in both English and Spanish.
Our message:
We value everyone in our community. We have served our community for many years. We promise to continue to give you excellent service no matter:
Where you come from.
Where you worship.
Who you love.
What color your skin is.
What language you speak.
How much you earn.
Together we’ve gone through good times and bad. We’ve always made it through together. No matter what happens in the next few years, we are here for you and your family.
It’s true, together we are strong. We are strong for our clients, for our community, and for ourselves. We are strong and unwavering in our commitment to dignity, respect, and equity for all people. We will be champions for everyone who does not have a seat at the table, and we will lift up their voices.
We will not let them down.
