The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:9

2 Samuel 11: 1–27

Today, I read 2 Samuel 11: 1–27. This is the interesting story of David, staying back when his army went to war, and how dwelling and acting on a wicked thought in his heart led to the death of one of his faithful and loyal soldiers!

You know the first lesson for me, from this story is that we all ought to guard our hearts! If David, a man after God’s own heart could commit adultery and then plan and execute a loyal soldier, then we all need to check ourselves! And the sad thing here is that just one seed, yielded a bountiful harvest of lies, deceit, adultery, death, etc. when you sow a seed, you don’t just reap one fruit, but a bountiful harvest of good or evil…

So before you sow the next seed in your thoughts or deeds, count the costs…!
