New Facebook leaks, Amazon goes to space and security forces fight with telecom in Russia.
Not a day without a leak: Facebook has found another vulnerability
Specialists of UpGuard, working in the field of cybersecurity, found an open database of 540 million Facebook user entries on Amazon cloud servers. The found database contained user identification numbers, comments, and account names.
The data was collected by Facebook partner company — Mexican media company Cultura Colectiva, which produces materials for social networks.
After a request from Bloomberg journalists, Amazon has closed access to the database.
It is still unclear how long the database with user data remained accessible.
Facebook has become an often hero of publications about possible leaks of user data, inadequate storage of information and insufficient protection of user information. At the same time, this year, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said that the company plans to increase their level of privacy.
“I believe that communication will increasingly shift towards private, encrypted services, where people can be sure that what they say to each other remains safe,” Zuckerberg said in a Facebook statement.
Amazon will launch more than 3,200 satellites to provide Internet access
American IT giant Amazon intends to bring 3236 satellites into Earth’s orbit in order to provide Internet access to 95% of the planet’s surface. This is stated in Amazon’s applications to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
A system called Project Kuiper is designed to provide high-speed, low-latency Internet access to connect communities around the world. Amazon did not disclose satellite launch dates and project costs. According to CNBC, the development, launch and operation of satellites may require billions of dollars.
Research: the global virtual PBX market is growing by 14% annually
Interest in virtual PBX remains high. The global virtual PBX market will grow by 14% annually until 2023, said in the “Global Hosted Private Branch Exchange (PBX) Market 2019–2023” report .
The globalization of business processes pushes enterprises to create effective communication systems both within the organization and it’s customers. Virtual PBX can help automate processes and provide flexible tools to improve performance. In addition, there is a growing need for uninterrupted connectivity for efficient communication between machines, systems, and employees.
Next-generation network monitoring helps organizations collect arrays of information across departments, employees, and applications, and this, in turn, helps organizations monitor their performance and has a positive effect on overall customer service.
Thus, the deployment of virtual PBX is a strategic priority for many industrial enterprises.
“Vedomosti”: Putin instructed the Security Council to work on the issue of using 5G frequencies currently occupied by military equipment.
Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Security Council to work on the issue of using 5G frequencies in the 3.4–3.8 GHz range that are currently occupied by military equipment. This should help to find a solution that is acceptable both for power structures and for the communications industry. According to Vedomosti, the issue was discussed at the State Commission on Radio Frequencies, which took place last Thursday.
Representatives of the telecommunications industry note that without these frequencies, unmanned transport, telemedicine and Internet of things are impossible.
Vedomosti reports that Putin intervened after the request from Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov, who said that “because of the lack of frequencies in the 3.4–3.8 GHz band, 5G networks will be launched much later than planned — 5G already runs in America and Asia”.
