Acne Studios dictates : The Knit
Swedish apparel label Acne Studios‘s creative genius and co-founder Jonny Johansson dictates : The Knit.
Founded in 1996 ACNE has had a colossal change fashion wise. Always innovating in some aspect of their creation. All that while staying true to the Acne aesthetic and their integrity. It’s for a reason that A.C.N.E stands for : Ambition to Create Novel Expressions.
The Stockholm-based fashion house recalls knitwear for next fall. Gilets, pullovers , coats and so on, all in knit. This fall Acne Studios went a bit further by knitting the wool on the sides of the modern fit dressed pantalons. An item that guys won’t miss in their wardrobe this fall season.
Attention to detail , focus on tailoring, an original way of using materials is the way to describe Acne’s signature contemporary approach to fashion.
Military inspired
The time Jonny Johansson spent in military service as a youngster was a source of inspiration. That clarifies the navy blue and army green hues we spotted throughout the collection. Not only the colors but also memories of freezing off his ass and sleeping under the snow tortured him enough to implement the knit — and more warm layers — in their fall 2016 menswear collection.
Frankly, we only recognized the military influences by analyzing how he knotted the scarves around the male models necks. They looked like the boy scouts in very warm clothes. But we have to admit we were wrong. We looked it up and we found something interesting. This particular knotting technique is the ultimate way for folks living between the north Swedish mountains in Vasterbotten.
A wise man once said : ” People who are proud from where they’re from can be trusted“. Guess Jonny johansson is a man to be trusted. BUT how proud he may be of his Swedish roots we just hope all of our favorites will soon be shoppable in all Acne stores. Let’s see how that works out!
