Most of the people will answer ambiguously but they will not be sure about their strategy to complete their tasks on time. The reason behind thiconfusion and complexity is traditional imaginary planning of our routine life. we do not have any clarity or track record of our ongoing and completed tasks.To be clear and organized in our routine life we need to divide our tasks on the basis of Importance and Urgency.

Important tasks are tasks that contribute to long-term missions and goals

Urgent tasks are tasks that have to be dealt with immediately.Urgency is relevant to timing to do a certain task. for example in case of emergency Fire event we need urgently fire extinguisher.

Parts of Eisenhower Matrix

For the partition of your tasks,first draw two mutually perpendicular lines for matrix. You will get four boxes label them one axis as urgent and not urgent , and other axis as Important & Not Important.

There are four boxes/ Quadrants listed as

1-Do it Now

2-Plan/Schedule it

3-Delegate/Postpone

4-Delete/ Eliminate it

1-Do it Now:

Put all your tasks which are Most Important and urgent in Do it Now Box. It is attached with Importance and Urgency of task.

2-Plan/Schedule it:

Put all tasks that are Important but less urgent in 2nd Box/quadrant. It is relevant with Importance of tasks and less urgency.

3-Delegate/Postpone:

Put all those tasks that are urgent but less important in 3rd box/quadrant. It is relevant to urgency but less importance.

4-Delete/ Eliminate it:

4th box/quadrant will have all your remaining tasks which you can delete or eliminate from your routine.
