Submission rules:

· All Hofstra undergraduates are eligible to submit. One submission per student.

· Medium & genre are your choice. Rankine’s book features poetic essays and screenplays alongside work from visual arts, photography, and other combinations of word and image. Multi-media works are encouraged; we ask you to limit video/audio files to 2 minutes or less, prose works of up to 800 words; poetry, photography, visual art, and any other multi-genre projects can occupy up to 4 pages.

· Every submission must include a description of no more than 200 words that explains the connection between your work and Rankine’s Citizen.

Copies of Citizen are available to all on reserve in Axinn Library (ask for the reserved book on file for HUHC 20); the Honors College Office (must provide your id/phone#); and the English Department office (pay a $5 deposit, which you’re get back upon attending the reading on 10/24 — and you can keep the book!).

You can also get a copy to keep (with a $5 deposit, returned to you at the reading) from Dr. Vimala Pasupathi in 243F Axinn and Dr. Jennifer Henton in Mason 307.

· Send submissions to [huhcreate at gmail dot com] or, if unable to submit electronically, bring hard copies or files to Axinn 243 (M-F, 9–5 pm only).Please include your name and 700 number in your submission.

All entries must be submitted by October 14.
