I watched Batman v Superman and I didn’t hate it.

I admit it. I was late in watching this movie. Not for any particular reason, though the reviews did damper my expectations.

But summer brings abundance of free time and with my love of reading waning, i turned to my Movie List for Summer (no joke, i have it tacked to the wall beside my bed).

I approached the movie with an open mind, determined to enjoy it for what it was. And because i love all things Batman…

The movie opens with everyone dealing with the aftermath of “Man of Steel”, and from there, already caught points with me. It’s a grey and murky area to consider/discuss : regulating the affairs and loyalties of super/meta humans.

Who gets to choose who dies and who lives? History has taught us that, absolute power in the hands of a man is recipe for disaster; but when the person is question is not human, do the rules still apply?

The emotional scenes were well delivered, as well as the fight sequences. My favorite having to be when Batman went to save Superman’s Mom. Wow, the ass kicking in that scene alone…

Confession : I didn’t cry at Superman’s death scene, because that what he does. Dies and comes back to life a bit later(refer to comics). He’s a dramatic guy.

The tone of the movie is dark, but that is kind of a DC trademark. The soundtrack was amazing. And true to Zack Snyder’s style, there was slow-motion , though much less compared to his other movies. And where it did show up, it fit.

Did it feel like there was too much going on? Yes. Were characters tweaked to darker versions? Yes. Was the “Martha” scene off? Yes. Is it a poor/terrible movie? No.

There are a lot of reviews and critics and butt-hurt fans that would disagree with this, but, as far as movies of this genre go? It’s a great movie. Plus, it’s Batman. And Batman makes everything awesome.
