After days of coding, self-learning and sleepless nights, I finally made it to week two of Andela Boot Camp. Andela Boot Camp is a two weeks Boot Camp which involves intensive training and self-development. I was lucky to be among the select few that made it into two week and yes, I was really excited. Getting into week two required a lot of determination, hard work, commitment, time and so much more. During week one, I faced so many challenges but positive response from my Boot Camp facilitator and my fellow Boot Campers helped me a lot.

One challenge I faced was learning new things at a very fast pace. At the Boot Camp, we were required to learn new concepts like using GitHub, Test Driven Development (TDD), Object Oriented Programming concepts and many more. This was hard for me to easily understand as I was new to these concepts and we had to implement every new concept learnt within a short time. How I adapted? I googled, I watched videos about this concepts and how to implement them. It took me some time to fully understand some of these concepts but I can confidently say my research and hard work was not in vain.

My second challenge was my lack of in-depth programming knowledge. We were asked to work on a project which was to design an application using JavaScript. This gave me hard time to figure out what the project was about as I had never worked on a project as big as that before and I was also new to JavaScript. How I adapted? I asked for support from my fellow Boot Campers and I asked questions regularly. Their feedback helped me gain a broad understanding of the project and JavaScript language.

Another challenge I faced was poor internet access during the days we were asked to work from home. This was I huge challenge for me because the project I was working on required good internet connectivity. I adapted to this challenge by working mostly at nights when the network was usually good.

This challenges were intimidating at first but each challenge I faced, made me work harder. I have come to realize that in life, I will face challenges but what makes me unique is my ability to adapt to these challenges.

Thanks for Reading
