6 Additives and Toxins that Hide in Healthy Food

Where to begin in decrying the flaws of this posting?

I’m going to just pick on a little note which is representative of flawed logic that permeates the whole thing. Glutamate is indeed one the most biologically and nutritionally important compounds — a chemical, whether you like it or not. It is common to all of cellular life and plays a central role in nitrogen cycles within organisms. Glutamate is an alpha-amino acid (AA), a building block of proteins. Let’s not demonize glutamate, because without it, we’d be dead. Your body isn’t going to care much if it’s coming in as part of a polypeptide (think protein fragment) or as a free AA, so form here isn’t the concern… except when it is specifically in the former of its sodium salt. But, pause. MSG isn’t a health risk for the glutamate. It’s unhealthy because of the high SODIUM CONTENT. Which, not unlike glutamate is a pretty biologically important nutrient, when consumed and stored in the right amount.

If you’re trying to sell or advertise some sensationalist diet for gullible and fear-driven fools, then go do it somewhere else on the internet. Or better yet, do us a favor and publish under ‘fiction’.
