Introduction:

The Vellore Institute of Technology is considered to be the best private institute in India. A wide range of courses is offered by the institute I the field of engineering. It conducts an entrance examination called as the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE). This exam is conducted for the students who wish to apply in that university for any under graduation or post-graduation course. Thus, the VITEEE becomes the first step of selection of students for admission into the Vellore Institute

Exam Pattern of VITEEE 2017:

The candidates must know the exam pattern in detail so that they can prepare their own strategies for getting good marks.

  • The VITEEE will be conducted online i.e. it will be a computer based examination.
  • The total duration of the exam will be 2.5 hours.
  • The exam will be in the form of MCQs i.e. the students have to choose one correct answer from the four options given.
  • There will be total of 125 questions. Each question will carry one marks. Hence, the examination will be of total 125 marks.
  • There will be no negative marking scheme.
  • Following is the division of marks for each subject.

Physics- 40 questions

Chemistry- 40 questions

Mathematics/ Biology- 400 questions

English- 5 questions

Even though there is no negative marking in the examination, the paper is set in such a way that the candidates will get confused while writing the paper. Hence, in order to pass the VITEEE 2017, it is important for the students to know the entire syllabus in detail and every chapter and concept from the books has to be done. For knowing the concepts clearly, the students must make use of good books written by experts in that field.

Books recommended for the VITEEE 2017 preparation:

The syllabus of VITEEE 2017 will mostly depend on the 11th and 12th syllabus. Hence the candidates can start brushing up their knowledge from those government books of the 11th and HSC level. Once they finish the basic revision of the topics, they can move further to the high level books that are available in the market.

Books for physics:

  • Books of Arihant Prakashan
  • D.C Pandey’s book on Thermodynamics, modern Physics etc.
  • D. Mukherjee
  • Concepts of Physics by the author- H. D Verma

Books for Chemistry:

  • NCERT Text books for the Inorganic chemistry concepts.
  • Khan Academy’s organic chemistry

Books for Mathematics:

  • R.D Sharma’s Objective Mathematics (part 1 and part 2)
  • Arihant series books
  • Arihant series last year’s AIEEE papers etc.

Books for Biology:

  • Text books of NCERT
  • Oxford Publication- Botany by A.C Dutta.
  • Biology guide written by Pradeep etc.

Along with the above mentioned books, candidates can prefer more books. But it is advisable to do the preparation from one single book so as to avoid confusions.

In the last stage of preparation, the candidates can but books which contain the previous year’s guidelines, tips, and the answer keys for the practice purpose. Practicing the paper solving will make the students confident and help them attain the desired score in VITEEE.
