The famed actor would have been 65 today, July 21, 2016.

Williams, who, according to his publicist, had been battling severe depression, passed away in his Paradise Cay, Calif. home on August 11, 2014.

His career and the roles he’s taken on has inspired people of all walks of life for decades. From playing the compassionate doctor in Patch Adams to his charitable work with children’s organizations, the inspiration he gives will live in for many more years to come.

Here, we list our seven favorite quotes from Robin Williams.

“You’re only given one little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.”

“What’s right is what’s left if you do everything else wrong.”

“No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change this world.” -Dead Poets Society

“You have this idea that you’d better keep working otherwise people will forget. And that was dangerous. And then you realize, no, actually if you take a break people might be more interested in you.”

“I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It’s not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people that make you feel all alone.” -World’s Greatest Dad

“It’s a wonderful feeling when your father becomes not a god but a man to you — when he comes down from the mountain and you see he’s this man with weaknesses. And you love him as this whole being, not as a figurehead.”

“But only in their dreams can men be truly free. It was always thus and always thus will be.” -Dead Poets Society
