Correct, once you have achieved product/market fit, and you have established a core team and culture, at that point you can think about hiring some distributed team members. I still would keep the number of distributed team members to less than 15% of the total company size, though (preferably less than 10%).

However, this generally doesn’t happen until at least 6–24 months after a company has been started. Prior to that, don’t do it :)
