Woman on the train with two younger ladies in their early-20s. Evidently a mother and daughter and the daughter’s friend; having been up to London for the day.

Mum: (Turning around and gazing unselfconsciously at the daughter’s friend) “You know, you’ve got such lovely hair and eyes, Sheena!”

Daughter: (Erupting with embarrassment) “Mum…!”

Mum: (Undaunted) “You must have a boyfriend, Sheena?”

Daughter’s friend: (Screams) “NOOOOOO!”

Mum: (Genuinely shocked by the news) “Really…?”

Daughter’s friend: (Massive volume) “ERRRR, HASHTAG SAD…HASHTAG ON-THE-SHELF….HASHTAG SINGLE PRINGLE…!!!”

Mum looks on, quietly nodding. Perhaps not so surprising after all.
