Despite the talk, it seems obvious that adoption of AI in everyday life has to be slower than currently imagined. Nonetheless, the change will come and it would be great if we were capable of preparing for it.
Basic Income (BI) clearly needs to part of the way forward, but it will create as many cultural challenges as does the loss of work. What will idle hands do? Will there be a population explosion that results from idle minds and bodies?
If we are going to increase education as part of the solution, what do we emphasize? STEM, or Humanities? I think art will be more inportant than science because people will need to be entertained.
