Chintai is a frictionless peer-to-peer EOS token leasing platform that leverages the revolutionary power of the EOS network. Chintai is the epitome of how communities can align incentives to enhance a decentralized ecosystem for the benefit of all. Developers can flexibly lease tokens based on their respective needs, while token holders can profit from lending network resources that would otherwise be left unused.
Chintai is community owned and operated. EOS42 bootstrapped Chintai with the support of several Block Producers and well-known EOS enthusiast. We decided to build Chintai not only because leasing tokens is a vital function for the health of the EOS ecosystem, but it’s also squarely aligned with the values that bring many of us together to build decentralized networks. Simply put, Chintai facilitates peer-to-peer transactions to empower individuals to use their assets without a middle man influencing the process or taking a cut.

Solving Core Network Problems
Future increases in EOS token price will result in serious cost barriers for many developers and entrepreneurs who want to deploy their applications on the EOS network. Token leasing will help lower cost barriers, allowing an increased volume of innovative applications to be launched on the EOS blockchain. We expect a higher volume of dApps to be positively correlated with increased network users, leading to industry disruption and higher token prices.
Recently, we’ve also seen issues with the ability for dApps like “EOS Bet” to run smoothly because of network resources being maxed out by “Block Twitter”. While “greylisting” has been implemented as a short term solution, ultimately BPs should not be responsible for deciding which dApps are making inappropriate use of pooled network resources. Chintai will solve this problem by providing dApps an agile solution in which they can quickly lease network resources based on their respective needs.
How does Chintai work?
Chintai is being deployed with a highly functional interface for pleasurable user experience. Lending tokens on Chintai is simple and easy. Users who lend their tokens on Chintai will enjoy full control of lease terms and fee-less transactions. In order to lend tokens, users simply create an order by sending EOS tokens with a “specific memo format” to the Chintai account.
Similar to renting physical property, token holders set the terms of the lease. This includes defining the duration and interest associated with each lease. The options for lease duration will start with markets of 7,14, 21, and 28 days.
For example, if you choose to stake1000 EOS for a 28 day period at a rate of 5% monthly interest, you would send your tokens to the Chintai account with the following format:

Once your order is placed, it’s added to the Chintai order book for Developers to view. Developers can select lease terms that suit their specific requirements. When your lease terms are accepted a contract locks both parties into a binding agreement. Under the scenario above, you would make 50 EOS tokens immediately and then receive the original 1000 EOS after the 28 day lease term.
Token leasing contracts are created by the token holders. Developers can also create contracts with their preferred interest rate. Therefore, Chintai will become a token leasing market based on free market competition and organic price discovery.
User Interface and functionality
Chintai offers functionality that you would find with other high-performance exchanges. This includes a price graph, order book, current market rates, 24 hour volume, market history, and more.
Users will be able to access all markets to lease or stake tokens. Markets include 7,14,21, and 28 day intervals.
Scatter desktop is the only wallet available through the Chianti interface. We will be adding more wallets in the near future.
Chintai comes in nine languages. Simply click the language tab in the top right to select your desired language.
Functionality coming after launch:
- Users will eventually have a “My Open Orders Page”. From this page you will be able to view and manage all of your orders.
- Users will eventually be able to view the current orders for each market.
- A small “information” button will eventually be displayed next to the “Create Order” button, which alert the user when RAM is needed. Included, will be a link and tutorial on how to purchase RAM.
How is Chintai different than REX?
- First, it’s important to note that REX is currently a proposal and is likely to evolve and change. However, the following include some of the notable differences between the current form of REX and the Chintai token leasing platform.
- REX and Chintai can co-exist. Token holders have the freedom to choose which token leasing solution works best for their needs.
- Chintai offers returns based off predictable interest rates from P2P trading. REX will offer returns based on a ratio between the proportion of REX tokens you hold and the capital in the resource exchange.
- Chintai does not give users “surrogette” tokens such as SEOS or REX in the REX proposal.
- REX is limited by 30-day lease period. Conversely, Chintai will offer lease periods of 7,14,21, and 28 days. Chintai will open more markets in the future as needed.
- REX token holders must vote. Chintai users are not required to vote. Initially, leased tokens through Chintai will be a part of the “Chintai Proxy”.
- Chintai users create lend/borrow orders. REX users will not submit orders. Chintai will develop an independent fair-market rate, based on the relationship between staked leases and demand. Rex users will stake tokens and receive returns at the end of the period based on a flat market rate.
- Chintai is a flexible and agile dApp. If the community favours the REX proposal or any other token leasing proposal, Chintai can easily adopt any advantageous changes in the base-layer code.
Bounty Program
We invite you to play and interact with Chintai to help us learn from your experience and identify bugs. Finding bugs will be rewarded with a bounty program. If you find bugs, please report them on our Github issues page: https://github.com/eos42/Chintai-issues
Finding a previously unknown bug will result in rewards of either 10 EOS (previously unknown minor bugs) or up to 500 EOS (previously unknown major bug) Major bug include anything that would cause a 1) system-wide crash 2) money to be lost or stolen. A minor bug is anything else that isn’t aesthetics.

FAQ
Can I vote while I lease my tokens?
The tokens in the Chintai account will be a part of a “Chintai Proxy”. The sponsors of the Chintai project will be the initial BP vote selections. Additional BPs will be selected based on technical excellence, unique application developmental, overall integrity, community building and other contributions that enhance the EOS ecosystem.
Will I receive my airdrops?
At launch you will not be able to receive airdrops. We’re forecasting this functionality by the end of October or early November 2018.
Can I participate in “air grabs”?
At launch you will not be able to receive “air grabs”. We’re forecasting this functionality by the end of October or early November 2018.
How is Chintai Operated and Secured?
Chintai is operated by the community’s most reputable BPs who sponsor the Chintai project. EOS42 and BPs who sponsor the project are official signees of a multi-sig wallet that stores funds on the Chintai platform. We’ve made sure to select BPs who have a proven track record and are strongly aligned with the interests of the EOS community.
The contract code will be available for public review. We will also use independent 3rd party audits which will publish results. When compared to REX the Chintai contract requires all its BP sponsors to make a change to theoretically remove tokens. REX system contract requires 15+1 BP to make a change to remove tokens.
The multi signature protection will never be used in any standard operation. The sole purpose is to protect for code failure. For example, if a user’s tokens are not automatically returned to the primary owner after a lease term has expired, Chintai would be able to manually release funds to the owner.
Plans for the Future?
This is just the beginning for the Chintai token leasing platform. We plan to build out more complex functionality that further enhances the EOS ecosystem.
Chintai will eventually be able to support many vital network functions such as receiving airdrops/air grabs, advanced order types, and RAM trading. Our long term goal is to develop Chintai into a fully functional DEX and more!

토큰 임대기간은 임대, 임차인들에 의해 7일 14일 21일 28일의 Markets중에 하나가 선택되어 만들어 지게 됩니다. 임대, 임차인 모두 오더북에 본인이 원하는 이자율을 포함한 주문서를 올릴 수 있으며, 가장 좋은 조건의 임대가 먼저 체결이 되게 됩니다. 따라서 Chintai는 자유 시장경쟁과 유기적인 가격발견을 가진 토큰 임대시장이 될 것입니다.
