Similar to LynxChain, Proton is structured to have a BP Steering Committee which will define the governance of the chain, curate the community of Block Producers, and approve worker proposals. The current committee consists of members from the EOSUSA, Greymass, EOSCafe, Lynx, and CryptoLions organizations.

In the initial stages of the chain’s launch, the BP Steering Committee will provide recommendations to the Proton administrators as to which block producer candidates should be promoted into active status (or demoted should the need arise). The following are the core criteria/goals the committee will use to help determine the selections:

BP REPUTATION

  • Participation in Proton Consortium
  • Active/Standby Producer on other public EOSIO-based chain(s)
  • Ability/willingness to avoid liquidating more than 50% of current pay to prevent market depressions
  • Public Opinion — We are hoping to develop a system to allow token holders to provide sentiment regarding BP selections to be considered by the Consortium during selection process

The following is only an establishment of general guidelines for the committee selection; future plans include options to further decentralize the selection of both the active block producers as well as BP steering committee members. For now, our primary focus is on getting the Proton platform up and running with a solid group of block producers.

Should you have any questions regarding the selection criteria, or any other matters concerning the Proton block producers, we encourage you to join the discussions on Telegram in the Proton BP channel (if a member) or the Proton Chain Telegram channel: https://t.me/protonxpr @ProtonXPR

CHAIN (BP/WPS/GRANT) FUNDS

The payment mechanism for both BPs and WPS on Proton will utilize the core EOSIO inflation mechanisms of a 5% standard inflation; this will be split with 3% going to the WPS/Grants systems and 2% going to BPs for operating the network. Of the total 2% going to BP pay, it will be allocated to the BP according to the following logic:

  • 25% based on blocks produced (performance-based pay)
  • 75% based on vote allocation (base pay; vote distributed as flat pay among current active and standby teams)

The WPS and Grants fund will initially be administered by the steering committee but will eventually migrate to be BP multisig controlled for further decentralization.
