GoT Power Rankings S7 E1 “Dragonstone”
1. Arya: She opened the season in dramatic fashion, single handedly killing off House Frey. It was obvious what was going on when we saw the decrepit face of Walder after he had his throat slit at the end of last season. I’m disappointed she didn’t take out Ed Sheeran, but there’s still hope for this week. There’s also the possibility of a reunification with her direwolf, Nymeria.
2. Feminism: Women have come a long way in Westeros. After previously being relegated to second fiddle (except in Dorne), Dany has the best odds to take Westeros, Cersei is on the throne, Arya is wrecking shit in the Riverlands, and Sansa is convinced she’s learned something and that her behind the back dealings won’t come back to bite her, because that definitely hasn’t happened before.
3. Lyanna Mormont: She kills (figuratively) in every scene she’s in. Why isn’t she the Queen of the North? Lyanna has a better head on her shoulders than Jon Snow and gives more rousing speeches.
4. Daenerys: Landed back in Westeros for the first time since she was a little girl. Has huge army. Could start fucking shit up but will probably wait around for an episode or two as she is wont to do. Could’ve been higher but
5. Jon Snow: Clearly trying to be his (uncle’s) son. The only of the Kings/Queens who is aware of the real enemy.
6. Cersei: A depleted army and shrinking lands have forced dire times on the “Queen (in name only) of Westeros.” She has no heirs and was forced to make an alliance with Euron Greyjoy. Then she sent him away while letting Dany land on Westeros in a decision that made little strategic sense. She’s mad in all aspects of life. Mad can be entertaining.
7. Sandor Clegene (The Hound): Sandor found out who the real enemy is by looking in the flame. While he now appears to have embraced the brotherhood without banners, this likely means we won’t get the Clegenebowl.
8. The kindling romance between Tormund and Brienne: I could watch them glance/wink at each other in passing for an hour and not get bored.
9. Sansa: I can see why she’s so worried about Jon after her father and brother were killed for their trust, but she also doesn’t realize her own behind-the-back dealings have hurt her in the past.
10. Bran Stark: He’s back in the North and in friendly hands for the first time since escaping Theon and Winterfell seasons ago. But did crossing the threshold of the Wall after being touched by the Night’s King remove some of its magic? Perhaps this will allow the white walkers to cross through. If so, it is another classic blunder by the Starks.
Receiving Votes: Night’s King, Samwell Tarly, Pod
Definitely not receiving votes: Jorah Mormont
Kill of the Week: Arya on House Frey. Lookout Westeros, there’s a savage on the loose.
