The modern Left faces a crisis of conscience that it does not wish to acknowledge. Trump’s popularity is a reactionary force. That much should be obvious to anyone. But rather than trying to humanely understand what Trump supporters are reacting to, seek to create a dialogue, and perhaps find a compromise, the Left seems intent on demonizing everyone who disagrees with their premises, not perceiving that this moral absolutism is at the crux of the outrage of Trump’s supporters.
