Are you idling or rising up?!!

Is your cake baking or did you turn off the oven?!

When I was a kid, my mother always told me that an idle mind was the devil’s workshop and even the minister in church reiterated this sentiment. Fact or fiction, you be the judge. According to Webster, idle means not occupied, doing nothing and according to google, the Living Bible states Proverbs 16:27, Idle hands are the devil’s workshop; idle lips are his mouthpiece. Well there you have it. Even if it’s not in your bible, you may have heard countless minister challenging the non productiveness of an idle spirit. Nothing in, nothing out! No pain, no gain! Living and life comes with risk-taking and everyday will not be a bed of roses whether you are rich or poor, successful or unsuccessful. When the bad happens, you can rest assured and know it will pass, just like the good things that happen will also pass. Life is like a roller-coaster going up and down and sometimes all around, but if you hold on long enough it will come to a stop. This stop maybe the stop you need to get to the next level in your life. Sure while going through this, it doesn’t fill complimentary.
Remember, you don’t want to just go through the hardships, you want to grow through the hardships!

With growth, rising is inevitable. According to the dictionary, rising connotes a related series of incidents in a literary plot that build toward the point of greatest interest. This can be you as the result of staying the course on the roller-coaster. Life is inherent of many lessons, some pleasant and some not so pleasant but nevertheless, they all will either make you or break you. You do have choices on your perspective from lesson to lesson. Choose wisely to rise even when you have pain in your heart or gut and know, “it too shall pass!

Now is the time for the rubber to hit the road. Idling is like insanity, doing the same thing and expecting different results. Rising connotes action and movement. Life should be about movement, living and being!

Is your cake baking or did you turn off the oven?! We become stagnant for many reasons in life. Disappointments, setbacks, rejection, discouragements, and grief are just a few of the issues that may cause you to turn off the oven with hopelessness. I challenge you no matter what to keep the oven on through the trials and agony, just enough so you can feel the heat because tomorrow that little heat may be all you need to move forward with more heat to rise like baking powder.

About ten years ago, my best friend, Leonard Hicks from New Jersey transitioned and I just wanted to die. I saw no reason to live. He was a dear friend, not a lover or boyfriend, just a loyal, caring and supportive guy friend who taught me about guys and life outside of the business arena. We were like two peas in a pot. He attended many of my book signings, stage performances, parties and poetry readings. We were totally opposites but had kindred spirits that could not be broken not even in death. Time hardly passes that I don’t miss him. He’s now like my guardian angel, I can hear his voice guiding me when needed. After his passing, did I idle? Yes, but not by choice until he appeared to me in a Vision and told me to go on with my life and that I would be fine. I got up and started to rise and rise as I feel him cheering me each step of the way. Experiences bring about wisdom. FYI, I practice what I preach, been there done that! Got my mental, spiritual and physical rising and and have been rising ever since.

Spiritually and mentally, God feeds me every day, while physically my body dictates its’ needs and wants and I listen. I suggest you do the same. Listen to your body it knows better than you think. God designed it that way and designed it to heal itself, if you treat it write. Mistreatment bring on doctor visits, surgery and/or medicine which can make you idle and not rise.
