Protect Your Eyes, 7 Sunglasses Must Know
- UV ultraviolet radiation causes most eye problems/issues. This happens when precaution is not taken when purchasing sunglasses. The sun can damage the eyes in many ways. Such as cataracts, cancers and bloodshot eyes. Ward against these by purchasing sunglasses labeled UV400 or 100% UV Protection.
- Be aware of the sun glare and dodge it. Polarized sunglasses cut down on glare from other surfaces. When surfing, boating, fishing, snowboarding, skiing or driving on a sunny day. Read the label and ensure it says “polarized”.
- Wrap-around sunglasses will allow you to have more UVs because they wrap around the side of your face. This prevents less sunlight to the eyes unlike sunglasses that go straight across. Also, oversize glasses provide additional eye protection.
- Shatter proof are key to preventing trauma to the eyes by an elbow or hand from a minor irritation, to getting poked to a cornea abrasio, to optic never damage when you can go blind in the eye. Impact resistance materials include polycarbonate and Trive which will protect eyes from fast-moving objects in general.
- Price is not the key factor here. UV protection and price possess no correlation. Follow Rule 1: Select sunglasses with UV400 or 100% UV Protection.
- Long hours of driving in the sunlight day can cause cancer to the face. UV protection window tint for side windows along with wearing wrap around sunglasses while driving is best.
- Tinted glasses are an option for those who may need more clarity but note are not related to UV Protection. Tinted glasses improve contrast only.
