For the SEC “Big” fines aren't doing the trick. Why the SEC needs to hold itself to higher standards. #RESM560v
Four SEC schools (Ole Miss, Kentucky, LSU, and Arkansas) have opted to storm the field this season with huge wins for their football programs. However, all have come with a fine from the SEC. Mike Slive, SEC commissioner, explains choosing to storm the field can result in injuries to athletes and fans. With health and safety being a top priority at SEC events is why a fine policy has been put in place.

The fine policy is as follows:
· First offense: $5,000
· Second offense: $25,000
· Third offense: $50,000
The SEC gives schools a 3 year period from their first offense to when they reset.
Though these fines seem large, for a SEC school this is pennies. For example, Ole Miss was fined $50,000 from the SEC for storming the field against #1 Alabama. Through crowd funding, Ole Miss supporters raised over $100,000 in one day.

Perhaps the SEC needs to rethink their fine process. If money is not doing the trick, maybe the SEC needs to start looking into penalizing the teams and schools themselves. This would surly deter fans from coming onto the field. If the SEC wants to continue being the primer conference in the NCAA it needs hold itself to higher standards.
