Sense360 Has Been Acquired!
--
It seems that just yesterday Kamil, Mikey, Ori, and I were huddled away in our office running all night hackathons and trying to dream up what Sense360 would become. I am thrilled and humbled that we are announcing today that we have been acquired by Medallia (NYSE: MDLA). It has been a tremendous journey getting here, and I am ecstatic about the opportunity to work with the Medallia team. Combining our real-time consumer signals with Medallia’s industry-leading experience platform will enable companies to better understand and serve their customers. You can expect to hear A LOT more about the VERY cool things we will be doing together in future posts. For now, I want to focus on thanking the many, many people who helped us get here.
Across the startups I have founded, I have learned that the line between success and failure is a very thin one, and it really comes down to the people around you. I was extremely lucky to go through this journey with an amazing group of colleagues, advisors, and investors.
It all starts with the team at Sense360. Kamil Mroczek is a great technologist, terrific person, and an amazing co-founder. Mikey Renan is a force of nature. He took on every imaginable role and crushed them all. Ori Konstantin is both the life of the party and an extremely innovative thinker. Wendell Hicken is a 100x engineering leader. Andrew, Mollie , Jeremy, and Damien are incredibly talented leaders. And the Sense360 team is the best I have ever worked with. Each person is a superstar and I am so excited to continue building amazing things with each of you. Thank you for your passion, persistence, skill, and love of the product.
Our investors played an outsized role in building Sense360. Without Matt Turck’s help, support and faith in us nothing would have been possible. He wrote us our first, second, and third check and believed in from the very first day. He has been a tremendous partner at every step of the way. We also benefited immensely from the support of the entire Firstmark family and especially Dan Kozikowski. Thank you Matt, Dan, and Firstmark.
Every founder needs someone they can go to when shit hits the fan. Someone who has seen it all, is comfortable with bad news, and will fly down at a moments notice to help solve a problem. Patrick Eggen is this and so much more. Thank you for being in the trenches with us and helping us put out more than one fire.
Micah Rosenbloom acted as my coach, cheerleader, and advisor. I knew I could turn to him for honest feedback whenever I needed it and he could help guide me through the tough decisions. Greg Bettinelli is so generous with his time, support, and help and truly made a difference. And to Jason Finger, Mark Mullen, Alex Villela, David Tisch & Adam Rothenberg, Marc Helwani, Telenav, David Hirsch, Jim Kim, Ben Siscovick, Yoni Saposh, and John Hinnegan, you were exceptional investors who believed in us, trusted us with your money, and helped us in so many different ways, thank you.
And to the incredible advisors who gave off their time, energy, and wisdom to help us, thank you. Thank you Michael Kline (3x!), Noah Glass, Jason Finger, Eric Leininger, Huw Griffith, Dale Sanko, Alex Vayslep, and Joel Aach. I am deeply grateful for your help.
Finally and most importantly I want to thank the people who kept me sane throughout this experience and allowed me to pursue my dreams. My parents and siblings were always there for me, believing, supporting, and encouraging. I want to thank my kids who make every sacrifice worth it and who are ultimately the reason I worked so hard and pushed myself so much. They are incredible and beautiful and the most important part of my life. And finally, I want to thank my wife Judy who believed in me when no one else did. She gave me the support to do something crazy and risky, and encouraged me to do what I love. She is the ultimate wife and partner.
