A UBI to me just sounds like slavery.

So welfare sounds like slavery to you? Because a UBI is a generalized/universal welfare program. It can be high or low depending on different policy scenarios. A non-existent job is irrelevant of a UBI or not. Only those jobs that exist can be removed or improved at a current time.
