I have three problems with this article. First, you don’t indicate the amount of money that the Republicans spend on Facebook. My understanding is that the Republicans have more money to spend than the Democrats. If they’re spending more on Facebook ads than the Democrats, then the Democrats benefit more from a ban on political ads.
Second, it appears that your income depends upon Facebook ads. If this be so, then your financial interest in the outcome undercuts your credibility.
Third, and far and away most important: we should not calculate the costs and benefits of any given policy on a partisan basis. The reasons why or why not Facebook should ban political ads should arise ONLY from our desire for what is best for the republic regardless of party. Yes, the Republicans do all their political calculations in pursuit of power, not principle. That doesn’t mean that other people should throw away their principles.
