You correctly observe that:

“If I am not interested enough in politics to inform myself, then voting is a waste of time.”

Let’s shorten it a bit:

“If I am not interested in politics, then I should not vote.”

That seems right to me, and in fact it’s good for society for uninformed voters to refrain from voting.

So the real question is, do you care enough about society to keep yourself informed about it?
