Shortage of dobutamine for injection

When you need a short-term treatment to help the human heart to beat more strongly after surgery or because of the effects of heart disease, injectable dobutamine is a very useful drug.

This is yet another drug that is in short supply because of the closure of a pharmaceutical production facility in Bedford, Ohio. Hikma Pharmaceuticals has taken over the site, but it is not yet in full production. There are two other manufacturers, but they are not meeting demand.
