Shortage of acetazolamide for injection

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists reports that acetazolamide for injection is in short supply. This is largely because Hikma Pharmaceuticals is in the process of revamping a pharmaceutical production facility in Bedford, Ohio. In practice, it is most often used when high pressure inside the eye makes it necessary to delay some surgical repair to the eye until the pressure can be lowered.
