you’re right, it’s not for everyone.
Even if you don’t have domain, you can add username+sitename.com@gmail.com to most sites that resepect RFC2822. Unfortunately, there are many sites that either don’t respect the rfc and don’t allow you to use the + sign, or they remove it when they store the email address, defeating the privacy benefits of per-site email addresses.
Another option for users is a company called Abine. they offer a chrome extension that’ll generate new email addresses per site.
