This is a great article Omar! I find a lot of the experiences you went through make a lot of sense. In the last part of the article where you say you tried to work with the founder who was leaving, you say he wanted 1/3 ownership of the company. You suggest writing up a vesting agreement, is the purpose of that so that he would only be vested at X% due to his time in the company? Also he said he wanted 33%, but you also said you offered him what you had already agreed on (which I thought was 33%). Can you clarify this? I spent a little time in venture capital and have always been fascinated by real-world examples like yours!
