Standardized testing may be one way to measure children’s progress, but it can do more harm than good.
If you’re going through or have been through school, you’ve probably taken standardized tests. Most of us had to take these tests every year in school to measure our mastery of different subjects and determine whether we could advance to the next grade and what level we were at in different subjects.
In addition, most kids headed to college must take the ACT or SATs, and if they go to graduate school, they may have to take the GRE or LSAT tests, depending on what they’re getting their graduate degree in.
