My name is Micaela, it’s a pleasure to meet ya. People like to call me Mica, hence the latter half of our profile name, though it’s funny because Eric never calls me that. In his previous post, Eric told you a little about me, most of it untrue, so now I’m going to expand upon that and tell you everything you never wanted to know.

I’m a pretty simple person, and I believe there are only three important things to know about me.

  1. I’m female — If you don’t already know, being a girl is super neat. I like to view my sex as a sisterhood full of inspiring women who have each overcome unique obstacles that have made them strong, resilient, and capable of creating a better world. Not just women can do this or women can be that, but women simply are.
  2. I’m Filipino — I was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the US when I was 4. Growing up in a predominantly Caucasian community, race has definitely been my defining feature. Also, the foundation of all my beliefs, whether secular or religious, can be attributed to my strong, familial bonds.
  3. I’m a big believer in love — As a Catholic, I believe a significant, if not the most significant, human vocation is the pursuit of love. Not just romantic love, but love for everything and everyone. I know it’s very naïve-sounding, but I believe that if everyone just loved a little more and opened their hearts the world would be a more beautiful place.

That’s me in a nutshell. I also feel a need to add my commentary to Eric’s post, so here it goes…

“She is such a teachers pet it is not even funny.”

Lies. If anyone’s a teacher’s pet, it’s Eric.

“Maybe it’s because I am hiding some small bit of narcissism in the lower recesses of my heart and I just like to talk about how unique I am.”

This is so introspective and accurate. Eric is the most humble narcissist I’ve ever met, he’s one of a kind.

“How Micaela? How?”

It’s easy. I just have a better teacher that grades generously. Eric would honestly one-up me if we had the same teacher. He always does.

“Micaela is in our school’s top Symphonic band and rocks out on the flute.”

First of all, it’s Wind Symphony, get it right. Second, don’t let Eric’s flattery fool you, I’m a very mediocre flute player.

“Mica says I am too pretentious.”

You’re not pretentious, you just do pretentious things.

“Mica’s style of writing is so different. Honestly, it’s so boring.”

Why am I being roasted? What did I do to deserve this?

I cannot wait to share more of my thoughts through this Medium. (That was supposed to be a pun, did you get it?) I guess I’ll talk to you later!

With Love,

Micaela
