Trumps has intelligence- but no smarts.

Washington Post broke a monumental story on May 15th with the headline:

“Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian foreign minister and ambassador”

National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster made a misleading statement to rebuke the story. He misrepresented what the story said in order to call it false.

Here is what McMasters said-

“At no time, at no time, were intelligence sources or methods discussed, and the president did not disclose any military operations that were not already publicly known.”

The Washington Post story did not accuse him of “discussing sources” — the story says Trump discussed the intelligence we learned from sources, which McMasters admits in his first part of his statement.

“The president and the foreign minister reviewed a range of common threats to our two countries, including threats to civil aviation”

So in an attempt to discredit the WP story, he actually confirmed it.

Now that Russia and others know what information we have — they can find out who had access to that info. This could endanger those who are helping us and give pause to future partnerships.

If the Russians were as simpleminded as Trump, this would be less of a problem. That’s not the case. These are high level Russian’s with skills and experience. Trump is just no match mentality. As this blunder proves.

The fight against ISIS will now be a lot harder to win. It’s not that easy to get reliable sources from the Middle East. Now anyone with valuable information will not share it with US officials unless they accept the risk of President Donald J. Trump revealing the information to Russia’s foreign minister and ambassador. Or others.

I’ll leave you with this last point made by the Post.

“For almost anyone in government, discussing such matters with an adversary would be illegal. As president, Trump has broad authority to declassify government secrets, making it unlikely that his disclosures broke the law.”
“The information the president relayed had been provided by a U.S. partner through an intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government, officials said.”

Basically- Trump is so incompetent the founding fathers couldn’t of imagined this situation. If they had, he wouldn’t have access to top secret information.

If this isn’t reason to ring the alarm bells for Congress, what will?

The basic foundation of American Democracy is to make sure NO ONE is above the law. If anyone else, a Senator- you- me or Joe the plumber did this, we would be arrested. The president has this leeway because this amount of ignorance couldn’t be envisioned.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
