Don’t be Stupid !!!

Now that’s a statement you don’t want to hear from someone! If you hear this statement it means that you are probably going to do something that the person saying this statement think is really really detrimental.

Usually when we hear it either we open our ears see what they are telling us weigh our options take the advice and don’t do it. Sometimes we hear this statement we get offended and we do that task in spite and to show that what we are doing is not stupid. In other words we either do it or we don’t. So leaders and teachers learn not to say statements like this because you are basically ending the debate or conversation for the decision.

However, sometimes after an extensive conversation a caring mentor, leader or teacher might find themselves in a place where they say this statement and it may have been imperative or necessary. If your student or child was about to do something harmful you might utter the phrase of don’t be stupid!

Jesus called the pharisees foolish and hypocrites and when I look into Matthew 23 He says some harsh words but these words are a warning to the teachers and the hypocrites.

Many debate that Jesus Himself says it is not right to call your brother foolish but if you look at the context Jesus is telling us not to have hate in our hearts for our brothers and even our enemies. Jesus tells us to pray for our enemies and even literally go the extra mile for them.

So how can Jesus say such harsh words? Is He not setting a good example? Well if you look closely Jesus is coming from a place of love because he is warning the Pharisees telling them not to be stupid! Jesus is trying to open their eyes and wanting them to make their decision

“ If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door” Genesis 4:7 (In other words don’t do something stupid)
