Taste and SEE !!

Psalm 34:8 “ Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.” NIV

The tongue has around 2,000 to 4,000 taste buds ! When we taste something delicious we feel a sensation that releases chemicals in our brain to make us feel a happiness that then becomes attached to what we are tasting. When we were kids and the first time we tastes pizza, ice cream, or french fries we smiled and probably asked if we could have more. If our parents offered those food items again we would become excited. I am a parent myself and I still get excited at the sound of the ice cream truck coming down my street!

So where am I going with this? Psalm 34:8 David says to “Taste and See”! The Hebrew people were very literal and not philosophical. They described things according to what they had seen, tasted, heard and touched. (See 1 John 1:1) The Bible is telling us here to experience God to find out Who He is for ourselves!!

Now many of us have experienced God and are saying we have already tasted. Now what I tell you is to go out and proclaim to those who do not know to taste and see. We try to convince people to follow God by trying to win logical arguments but we should really only say taste and see.

Did anyone have to argue for you to try ice cream for the first time or were you so curious that you just took a taste? This is why David says God prepares a table before us! If we allow God to shower his blessings upon us all we have to do is tell people to Taste and See what is on the table that God has made for us.
