A nice summer shower rolled in today. Knocked the temps down to a pleasant evening.

I did none of what I planned today. Because I was a little lazy and it was raining I didn’t work outside at all. I planted my ass in front of my computer and got the writing done I’d been putting off for a month before I started work and just carried through to dinner which was just a pizza I stuffed into my gob.

Next was a file search. I thought it would be harder to find but it was on the 2nd thumb drive I searched.

I went to Austin School of Film in 2015 to take the 6 week Digital Film Making course. Out of 14 students I was one of 6 that actually finished a short film. And that’s not to begrudge anyone taking the course or to say I’m some sort of genius. I’m not.

Making a film is HARD!

It takes over your life. I takes over your bank account. All aspects of one’s life gets directed towards this one thing. Like a house remodel.

So I think a lot of people tend to quit after they see what a time and money suck it is. I jumped right in and once I got so far I decided I couldn’t afford to quit. I had already spent so much time and money that it would have been horrible to just give up. So I dug in, got even more stubborn, and finished the damn thing.

It played the following year in a theater at the Student Film section of SXSW. That’s the only time it was seen in public.

Until next Friday.

That’s right. Just like my graphic novel this little film isn’t doing anything for anyone sitting around collecting digital dust in a file. I’m going to wash it off and post it online on my Gumroad account.

Here’s the trailer:

Yeah, it’s a creepy film. It’s rated R due to language and suggested violence. It’s also one of the best things I’ve written. IMO anyway.

The lead actor in my little film has gone on to star in one of the Star Wars series on Disney+.

Yep, it’s true.

Let me assure you, nothing about my short film helped him get that role.

So, what do you guys say? Put some popcorn on the shopping list and kick back for 6 minutes and get your culture on. I’m thinking I’ll just charge like 1.99 for the download so go ahead and search your couch cushions to pay for it.

Back to writing about food tomorrow. Here’s another free download of Mamaw’s recipes for hanging out to read this.
