These days

Twenty years ago, I honestly thought that I’d be playing in the NFL. Ten years ago I thought I’d be married and working for a big firm in New York. One year ago I thought I’d be in Washington DC wrapping up my fifth financial audit. Well as most of you know, even though I declared myself eligible for the draft I am not in the NFL. Turns out, life doesn’t always happen the way we plan it.

The economy didn’t always cooperate with my parents’ plans. I went to a lot of elementary schools. Sometimes my parents had plans in one place and we’d stay a while and sometimes we wouldn’t.

A friend said to me today that they really liked my social media presence and that if someone from grade school came across it they’d say, “Eric’s a cool dude”. (Hope its true ) It made me think about people I’ve come across in life and where they are now. Then I thought about my parents and if they ever thought about those people they’ve come across and wonder, “Where they are now?” Do people ever wonder about my parents? “Where are Cam Van and Truong these days?” You meet a lot of people in life. Most you’ll probably never think about again, but then there are those people you never want to think about again…except you do.

Well for those of you wondering what Cam Van and Truong are up to; today they fed birds and then went tamarind picking.
