As a Marine, being called elitist by a group of soldiers that to distinguish there elitism from their own troops wear “Green Berets” or insert color here of appropriate beret! Sounds about as elitist as one could get! Just saying…..all marines dress the same, and are basically uniform in every aspect except there MOS specific tools, uniform pieces i.e. Our “Raiders” or “Recon” the top of the food chain or spec ops as they were known when I was in don’t wear anything different nor are they called anything different. They are and always will be known as Marines! And I guess if you are picky and don’t take everybody, and not everyone gets a hug and a participation trophy that makes you elitist then I am ok with that. My fellow Marines may have been lacking in the finer social graces but when we were in combat, I knew where they were and they were getting the job done! I never once worried about my men’s competency or attention to detail, there business was killing and they are good at it!if you want winning of hearts and minds and handing out hugs and toothbrushes call the Army they got this!
