The High Line of New York at 9pm
The high line is beautiful at night. As you are walking from the south to the north, it feels like the world is opening up to you. Couples and the romantic-like sit on the benches amidst the ambiance of soft light and bushery.
The number of people decreases the further north you go, and the sights become more bare. Unfortunately, the end is anticlimactic as the northern end is still under construction. The real estate there hasn’t developed as much. Eventually the High Line will open to the Hudson River, which will be quite a sight, but currently that part of the High Line is closed.
For those reasons, I recommend that you walk the High Line from North to South towards West Village. At the end of the journey, you will have access to candle-light dinners and beautiful shops at the Chelsea Market. If you are bringing a date, I recommend it!
I began at the southern end of the High Line.

There are some food booths located on segments of the high line. Most of them have closed for the night. But some of them are still open and serve ice cream.

Once you start entering this portion of the high line, you notice there are some tracks and greenery under the floorways.

As you get closer to the end of the highline, you approach to beautiful lights. You notice the lights are coming from construction work. It is somewhat disappointing. You’d expect a sight akin to that of the Eifel Tower but instead you see construction scaffolding.

Leaving the construction area, you can feel the ambiance change. There are many more benches and open space.

Here, you reach the end of the High Line. There is more that is under construction, but it abruptly ends at the fences.

Eventually you get to the end. But you will not be alone. There are others who will have made a similar journey! It is interesting how people from all walks of life start off with different hopes and motivations wind up at similar destinations.
