It has become clear to me over the past decade that I was fooled into thinking that techno-centric liberalism was going to liberate the world via logic and efficiency, when truly it is a facade build by those who want to be the next Rockefellers, Murdochs and Kochs. People who are disenfranchised can have their lives destroyed by the simple act of illegal parking (car gets towed, can’t pay impound, misses work, fired from job…there are endless stories like this…it would be reactionary to portray this as a result of income or wealth inequality, when it’s really the system we’ve created to punish the poor and keep them in their place that inevitably ends up in massive inequality…in this country their are many and multiple ways to buy yourself out of trouble [legal trouble, health trouble, logistics trouble, etc.], but these methods are unavailable to those without money or status). What is the Silicon Valley solution to parking problems? Let’s make an app for that!
